DC Design Tours

Historic tours of Washington, DC focused on architecture, urban planning and design.

DC Design Tours offers historic walking and driving tours of Washington, using architecture and design as a framework for our historical storytelling. Explore some of Washington's most prominent architectural marvels and best-kept secrets, while hearing about the conflicts, controversies, and personalities involved in the development of our Capital City. From Neoclassical to Brutalist, come learn the history behind the brick-and-mortar through one of their design-focused tours!

DC Design Tours explores neighborhoods across Washington, DC including the National Mall, Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle, Embassy Row, Georgetown, Anacostia, Adams Morgan, and more. Private customized tours are also available upon request.

DC Design Tours was founded in 2015 by former architectural designer and lover of all things brick and mortar, Carolyn Muraskin. Carolyn left her drafting desk and started touring so she could talk about buildings rather than draw them. Carolyn is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Architecture and has lived in the Washington area since 2006. All DC Design Tours guides have a design background and are passionate about the architectural history of Washington.
