The Christmas Truce of 1914

The Christmas Truce is Free and Open to the Public

Dec 12, 2025. 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

On Christmas Day in 1914, just months into one of the bloodiest wars in human history, carols were heard in trenches across the front lines. Without instruction from their commanders or countries, men met in the bloody fields of No Man’s Land. They traded cards and rations, kicked a football around, and joined together in celebration.

Join the Doughboy Foundation as we honor and celebrate that miracle of shared humanity. On Friday, December 12th at 5:15 pm, we’ll have the Choir of the French Embassy to sing carols and celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season.  The American Expeditionary Forces HQ Band Brass Quintet will also provide music.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Music will be provided by the Choir of the French Embassy.
